Compost Initiative

Why compost?

According to the USDA, food waste is the single largest component going into municipal landfills. This food waste instead could be turned into usable, nutrient dense plant food. Not only does composting reduce landfill volume but it provides carbon sequestration, reducing effects of global warming.

Our initiative

We are looking to partner with local families/individuals who are willing to save foods scraps so that we can turn them into compost to feed our plants. Individuals can drop off full 5-gallon buckets at the Farm. We will clean out the buckets and let you know when it’s ready to be picked back up. We turn the food scraps into compost that go back into growing more delicious vegetables.

Do you own a local restaurant or work for a local business & would like to do your part to keep the Earth green? Contact us today so we can determine if a compost program would work at your location!
